Beastie Boys legend DJ Mix Master Mike tour announced…
Future Entertainment is proud to announce hip-hop legend Mix Master Mike is returning to Australia for a whirlwind National tour.

First coming to prominence in 1992 he won the New Music Seminar/Supermen Inc. DJ Battle for World Supremacy in New York City, becoming the first West Coast DJ ever to do so. In the same year, his turntablism collective Rock Steady DJs won the DMC World DJ Championships, establishing Mix Master Mike as one of the pre-eminent DJs in the industry.

After winning a massive three consecutive DMC World Championships in 1994, rumours circulated that Mike and Q-Bert were asked to retire from further competition, so as to avoid monopolizing the title. Although this was disputed by the DMC World Championship website, both Mike and Q-Bert became judges for the 1995 DMC Championships upon retiring from the competition. Mix Master Mike’s high profile work with the Beastie Boys, including the albums ‘Hello Nasty’ (1998) and ‘To The 5 Boroughs’ (2004), has further cemented his name as a true legend.

Honoured with The Grandwizard Theodore Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Turntablist Federation, he has collaborated with artists including Ozzy Osbourne, Tommy Lee, Rob Zombie, Fela Kuti and Joss Stone, to name a few.

Known for his heavy hitting bass and intricate scratch routines Mix Master Mike is credited with inventing the ‘Tweak Scratch’. (This is performed, by moving the record back and forth whilst the platter is stopped. The inertia of the platter causes the sounds to slow and drop in pitch in an unusual manner.)
