the tongue reworks some classics
Jul 7th

Killing shit on the battle circuit for a minute The Tongue dropped his debut LP Shock and Awe in 2007 to what was largely Australia wide praise. In recent times tracks from that release have found there way into the sets of names such as Giles Peterson and DJ Krush. Treating hip hop as his day job The Tongue has headed back to the studio and dropped a free mixtape of heat for the masses. Reworking classics from the likes of Biggie and Ice Cube as well as spitting freestyles and dropping some exclusives, it’s well worth your bandwith. Oh yeah did we mention it was free?
crumpet spots a clone
Jul 7th
When being bombarded with advertising all day and night crumpet would generally rather indulge in repeated games of roshambo than draw attention to it. However, the posters and adverts for the new Will Smith blockbuster have thrown up a clone that warrants the attention of the world, clearly Hancock is the alter ego of rebounding machine Dennis Rodman. The proof as always is in the pictures.

nas takes aim at 50
Jul 7th

It seems you can only take shots for so long before Nas decides to torch you. After plenty of shots from 50 in the past couple of years Nas has unleashed this verse from Queens Get The Money, a track on his forthcoming LP.
“Niggas is still hatin’ / talkin that Nas done fell off with rhyming / he’d rather floss with diamonds / they pray please god let him spit that oozie in the army lining that shorty doo-wop rolling oowops in the park reclining take twenty-seven mc’s put em / in a line and they out of alignment / my assignment said she said retirement hiding behind 8 Mile and The Chronic / get rich but dies rhyming / this is high science / now add 23 more from Queens to B’more / I’m over they heads like a bulimic on a seesaw / Now that’s 50 porch monkeys ate up at the same time”
Now 50 has beefed with pretty much anyone with a pulse on wax and lately his sound has seemed flat without a targeted enemy, but Nas is on another level to those he has defeated before. Remember this is the man who killed his beef with Jay-Z on one single track, arguably the best ever diss track Ether. Crumpet doesn’t condone hip hop violence, but does love a great on wax verbal stoush, let the games begin.
dmx is hip hop’s most consistent
Jul 4th

Forget making albums as raw and loved as your debut, forget making singles or beefing with former crew members like Ja Rule, right now nobody is as consitent as DMX, at least when it comes to arrests. Yep everyones favourite alleged crack head has been at it big time in the past week chalking up three seperate arrests. There’s an arrest for a $10 000 bond that is unpaid, another for trying to buy $45 of cocaine from an undercover officer, the third was over a warrant for driving without insurance. Now somebody needs to either get this man some help, or the preferred option of crumpet, a giant clock on a chain and a reality show.

alicia keys to call it quits?
Jul 3rd

Super fine Alicia Keys is reported to be looking at retirement at the ripe old age of 27. One of the few credible RnB pop artists being forced down our throats by video shows the world over it would be a significant loss. She has reportedly stated “I am working hard now so I have the choice to retire when I want. I would like to travel the world and stay in places instead of having to move on like I do now. I want to experience different cultures.” We at crumpet hope that she has a few albums of soul laden tracks in those vocal chords before she bids us farewell.

crumpet finds the new season nike freshness
Jul 2nd
By now you may have gathered that we at Crumpet love our kicks. Searching the globe for the pair that nobody else is rocking is two parts hooby one part obsession. With great pleasure we drop some of the hotness coming from Nike for this northern summer.

AF1 and Jordan 5 mashups, hell yeah! This new colourway is the best yet.

Dropping Jordan 3 meets Uptowns was destined to work. Drop them in the Carolina colourway and we must have them.

Everyone should know the countdown packs by now, two Jordans in one convenient and limited edition pack. Dropping right about now the 4/19 features the iconic 4 in black and the much overlooked 19 in boot mode.

Finally these are the Kanye Nike, currently only avialable to Kanye but sure to get an international drop in the future. You saw them here first.
