We just received our promo package from our friends over at MOOVMNT blog. Cheers boys. One of the CD’s in that promo package is Lee Fields & The Expressions – My World. 100% good old fashioned soul. With this warmer weather coming in it brings about thoughts of ladies in summer and we think Lee Fields best describes it in his tune. Check it on the tube you!

Freaky freaky freaky frequency. Sydney hip hop artist Scott Burns makin sure we’re on that and yes indeed we are like gravy on fried chicken. This clip catches our attention as our good friend Alice Fenton [on the red phone] is also in the clip. Check the rhyme.

heads up producers – remix the roots
Oct 24th
Competition:
Want a chance to showcase your skills and rock with The Legendary Roots crew? Well here is your chance, thanks to Indaba’s The Roots “Criminal Remix” contest. You have until November 12th to submit your round one remix to The Roots‘ “Criminal” off of their latest album Rising Down. Provided are separate tracks from the song including bass, drums, keys, guitar, and vocal, so you can really get busy (no pun intended). The Top 25 finalists from round 1 will receive autographed copies of Rising Down and move on to Round 2 where they will have another week to remix a second track by The Roots. The winner of round 2 (as selected by Black Thought, ?uestlove and Indaba resident Mantis Evar) will have an opportunity to record an original song with members of The Roots. Hit up Indaba for further details and to get the stems and go to work. In the mean time check this new joint from Von Pea, Donwill, Spec Boogie, and Che Grand (aka The Lessondary) to see how to at least rip new vocals over a track by The Roots
crème of da crop – syndrome studios
Oct 17th
Let me paint the picture: rapper pulls up to a flashy nightclub in his flashy new Bentley. He’s escorted to the “V.I.P” room where a platter of half-naked females fight for air time in front of the camera, while his entourage hang back throwing gangsta hand signs in the air…
Ring any bells?
Yep, we’ve all seen our fair share of stock-standard, lame-ass, bling-bang hip hop videos. The industry has been pumping out these cringe-worthy clips for years, even from guys like Dre, Biggie, Pac, and my personal favourites – De la. But every now and then, when the stars align, a good hip hop clip can make us go ooh ooh ooh… like these ones made by LA-based Syndrome Studios:
With a mad mix of lush design, special effects, awesome cinematography, beat-timed editing and sick motion graphics, Syndrome creates music videos that are dope as.

With Diesel’s Dirty Thirty party now over, we Crumpeters gotta say throwing a big three-oh party for the rest of the world is a mad major marketing ploy to get masses back on the Diesel bandwagon which, in our circles at least, had been dying in the a-hole.
We’re taking a look at the mashups that happened as part of Diesel’s artist lineup.
London’s lineup included Soul Jazz Soundsystem, Mark Ronson, and DNB heavies DJ Fresh & MC Dynamite.
Stockholm sported Swedish hip hop superstar Lazee, while in Zurich the Cuban Brothers smashed it up.
Tokyo got a sweet deal with Soulwax and the venerably talented A-Trak
and of the more current commercially viable known artists Chaka Khan vs Hot Chip performing at the New York event also a pregnant M.I.A (coming out of retirement) vs N.E.R.D live mashup. Insane!! Check the clips here

Be like ‘Ye
Jul 25th
For the men of Crumpet we’ve often thought about rockin up to a spot and rollin in like a super duper star, choose any girl in the joint and partyin like we just don’t care, but like all tales fairy Absolut shows us in this modern day Cinderella tale that these days we don’t wanna be like Mike we all wanna be like ‘Ye. Even dudes with mullets or elvis look-a-likes.
